A FUN DAY is being held in Shinewater next week, with more than 40 stalls expected and a wife carrying race.

The ninth annual event is taking place on Saturday, September 1, from noon until 5pm, and as well as the dozens of stalls there will also be fun games, live music from Eastbourne’s own Glamryze and on-stage entertainment from a stack of local cultural groups.

There will be refreshments available throughout the day, including samples from local Thai curry chefs, and a beer tent.

The popular tug-of-war competition returns, with teams invited to head down to take on the current seven time champion team.

An organiser said, “We will be holding the very popular mini Olympics where we have an egg and spoon race, sack race, three legged race, carry your wife race and the world famous egg chucking game.

“All of these events are open to all ages with gold medals for all winners.”
