Arrive early for the big match

Eastbourne Borough FC are expecting their biggest crowd for two years when they take on Weymouth at Priory Lane tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

The town's top football club will be aiming to reach the second round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in its history.

Two years' again, nearly 4,000 fans squeezed into Priory Lane for the visit of Oxford United. Tomorrow's crowd is likely to be nearer 2,000 – double the club's normal attendance.

Although the vast majority of spectators will pay at the gate, tickets can be obtained in advance at Priory Lane today.

Admission prices will be 10 for adults, 6 for concessions and 2.50 children.

Chief executive Mike Spooner said, "We were originally planning to charge our normal prices, but the adult price of 10 is the minimum allowed by FA regulations. We hear some clubs are charging up to 20."

The club is encouraging fans to arrive at the ground early, avoiding long queues close to kick-off time and to use the car parks which can accommodate up to 500 vehicles if all the available parking space is used.

Mr Spooner added, "If people have to park in the streets we would ask them to respect the local residents with regard to access to drives and garages."

Boro have sold more than 200 tickets in advance, many from people who do not normally watch football at Priory Lane.

The draw for the second round will not be made until Sunday. It will be televised live on BBC1 at 5.15pm.

If a replay is necessary it will be on Tuesday, November 20 at Weymouth.
