A NEW community and youth shelter has been officially opened at Willingdon Triangle.

The shelter was organised by the Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council to provide a useful amenity for all ages.

Members of the Youth Forum pledged to raise funds towards the ongoing maintenance of the shelter and are hoping to organise a concert at the school in due course. The ribbon was cut by Laurence Dengate-Roe and Megan Coope, two original members of the forum.

The Chairman of the Council, John Pritchett, thanked everybody for attending and said a special thanks to the Safer Wealden Partnership and the Sussex Association of Local Councils who both gave grants towards the cost of the shelter as it is a benefit to the community as a whole.
