HEALTH and social care students from the Eastbourne campus of Sussex Downs College have been instrumental in organising a new sign that helps those with learning difficulties find out about the facilities across Hampden Park.

The students tackled the signs as part of their Level 2 court and worked with Eastbourne Borough Council to get a sign installed and funded.

Claire Desbois, academic tutor, “The sign uses symbols to convey information and messages, which are easier to understand than speech or written words.

“This is a wonderful example of community involvement and I congratulate the students on their proactive approach.”

David Henry, horticultural officer at Eastbourne Borough Council, said, “It has been a great pleasure working with the students and staff of Sussex Downs College.

“We are always pleased to increase the opportunity for equality and diversity in Eastbourne’s parks.”
