A disused seafront pub looks set to get a new lease of life.
Formerly known as the Big Apple and before that the Beach Pub, the seafront building on the corner of Royal Parade and Beach Road has been empty for some time.
Now it has been acquired by the Lions Hotels and Farms Group, it is undergoing an extensive programme of renovation but it is not yet known what it will be turned into.
Managing director Abid Gulzar told the Herald, “We are painting the building, installing new windows and generally improving it to a very high standard.
“We are looking at various possible new uses, one of which could be a children’s nursery, but all this will be subject to consultation with Eastbourne Borough Council and change of use approval.
“Whatever the future use we envisage the creation of a number of new jobs.”
