Two new benches worth £1,500 have been donated to Five Acre Field in Langney Point thanks to the devolved budget scheme.

The benches have been positioned near to the football pitch, allowing spectators the chance to sit down and other walkers to take a rest and enjoy the area.

Sovereign councillors Gordon Jenkins, Philip Ede and Patrick Warner agreed to put two new benches in the field after a request was made by the neighbourhood panel.

Cllr Jenkins said, “The benches are a great new addition to the field and I’m sure both the residents and local community will benefit from them.

“We’re always happy to receive requests to support local community initiatives, so do please get in touch if you have any suggestions for us.”

Margaret Jordan, chairman of the Langney Point and St Anthony’s Panel, said, “I am very pleased with the outcome.

“Five Acre Field is a nice spot for a walk and now we’re able to sit down and watch children play on the football field too.”

She praised the scheme which funded the benches, and said, “The devolved budget scheme is a great way for us to make suggestions to improve the area we live in.”
