SILVER surfing has been the order of the day at an Eastbourne nursing home with residents going online and surfing the internet.

To celebrate Age UK’s Myfriends Online Week, residents at Pentlow Nursing Home in Summerdown Road have been surfing the internet with a recently-installed specialised touch-screen computer system.

Doris Patch, a 90-year-old resident, said, “All my grandchildren have been emailing me and sending through photographs. It’s great to hear and see what they are doing on an almost daily basis.”

My Friends Online week is dedicated to helping people in later life discover the social side of the internet, learn the latest ways to make new friends and keep in touch with old friends and family.
