PEVENSEY will be packed full of musical entertainment, parades, activities and games for the annual Pevfest tomorrow (July 23).
The popular family fundraising event, which started as a small beach garden party, now takes place across the village.
Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy 50 different bands in seven pubs across Pevensey and Pevensey Bay. The Royal Oak and Castle and the Smugglers, both in Pevensey, will be hosting bands throughout the day. Pevensey Bay’s The Castle, The Bay Hotel, The Beach Tavern, The Moorings and the Aqua Club will also have live musical performances during the day and in to the evening.
There will be plenty for the younger members of the family including a bouncy castle and a steam railway ride.A variety of refreshments including a hog roast will also be available in the village throughout the day. Morris dancers and the children of Pevensey and Westham School will be providing entertainment and there will also be a parade through Pevensey Bay including many of Pevensey’s community groups including the WI and the Beach Belles.
Each year the event raises funds for local charities and this year Beachy Head Chaplaincy, St Wilfrid’s Hospice, the Pevensey and Westham branch of East Sussex Disability Association, Pevensey Bay Information Centre and Pevensey Bay Community Action Group are set to benefit. Fred Housego, former Mastermind champion, is one of the Pevensey residents helping to organise the event.
He said, “It is a community event first, a fundraising event second and just an opportunity for everyone to have a great time.
“This year is set to be a great event.”
Programmes detailing the activities and bands at this year’s PevFest are currently available across the village. Volunteer helpers will also be on hand throughout the day.
