Police are appealing for witnesses after a dog walker was bitten by the animal belonging to an elderly owner in Eastbourne.

The 29-year-old victim, from Pevensey, was walking two pets under the bridge at Golden Jubilee Way near Shinewater Park last Friday when a medium-sized terrier-type dog attacked one of her animals.

She pulled her dog away but the terrier then bit her on the calf. The owner was with the terrier but did not intervene and walked off after the incident at 11.15am on Friday morning (August 9).

The terrier’s owner is described as being in her mid to late 70s, five feet five inches tall to five feet six inches tall with short white hair and glasses. She was wearing a white anorak and light trousers.

The victim was walking the pets with her aunt and her young child in a pushchair.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or who knows who the owner of the terrier is.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 721 of 9 August or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
