Caroline Ansell MP attended the Eastbourne District Scout Council AGM held at Bushy Wood Scout camp.
After the meeting she talked to District Commissioner Ashley Whymant-Morris who explained that Scouting in Eastbourne was flourishing.
He said, “Eastbourne District now has 11 Scout groups within which there are over 1,100 members including Beavers, Cub
Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and network Scouts for the 18-25s.
“Membership continues to grow every year and indeed two of the groups are going to open up additional Beaver Scout sections in September.”
There is a waiting list to join and more adult volunteers are being sought to give even more Eastbourne Children the opportunity be involved in the Scouts.
Caroline said, “I have a particular interest in the scouting movement. All three of my boys were Cub scouts and when I was at Bushy Wood for the AGM, my youngest, Joshua, was camping for the weekend with the 1st Old Town Cub pack!
“I am very keen to help the scouts develop further in Eastbourne and any adults that would like to get involved can contact me via my office.”
