THE MP’s Commission set up by Stephen Lloyd has raised £968 for Eastbourne’s Salvation Army.
Mr Lloyd visited the Salvation Army citadel to present a cheque for £968 from the MP’s Commission Christmas Appeal.
He said, “Yet again Eastbourne residents and local companies have proved their generosity.
“To raise £968 in just ten days, in addition to an amazing number of gifts that have been donated as part of the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, is an incredible feat.”
The MP raised the money from new sources thanks to the Eastbourne Buzz efforts to bring local public, private and non-profits organisations together to get real investment for our town.
At the Salvation Army in Langney Road, Mr Lloyd presented the cheque to Major David Squirrell, his wife Linda and Pauline Peagam, the community development worker.
Major Squirrel said, “It is heart warming to think that people have responded so generously and so spontaneously to Stephens’s appeal on behalf of the Salvation Army in Eastbourne.
“ It will allow us to continue to support those who struggle at Christmas.”
Mr Lloyd added, “This money will make a real difference to what the Salvation Army offers especially over the Christmas period which is a difficult time for many in our community. I’m genuinely touched by kind response from local people.”
