A cyclist was airlifted to Eastbourne DGH from Crow link.
The man had suspected spinal and internal injuries. The incident happened just after 3pm on Friday (April 19).
Eastbourne Coastguard teams co-ordinated the rescue on the ground while the Coastguard helicopter was launched to the scene. Ian Haines, watch officer for Dover Coastguard, said, “The limestone and chalk of the cliffs can become very slippery if we have had rain and we would always warn people to stay well away from the cliff edge.” Mr Haines said people needing medical help from the cliff and downland areas were right to call the coastguard on 999, as the service had the resources to make rescues from such areas more quickly and effectively than the land ambulance.
