A meeting to discuss how a £1 million cash boost should be spent in the town takes place this weekend.
The Devonshire West area of the town has been allocated the cash by the Big Local lottery fund and the drop-in event will be on Saturday February 2 from 10am-4pm at Bourne County Primary School
People and organisations can submit their ideas on how the cash can be spent in Devonshire West, one of the most deprived areas in the south east.
The money must be spent on making a lasting and positive difference to the community.
A Big Local spokesperson said, “The Devonshire West area of Eastbourne has been selected for this opportunity. The first stage is to spread the word about Big Local and make sure residents and a wide range of local organisations know how they can give their views and get involved.
“Devonshire West is one of six areas in the south east to win cash as part of a Forgotten Communities scheme, which aims to transform areas with a slice of a £200 million budget. Residents themselves will decide how the money is spent to improve the ward over the next decade.
“It has been chosen as overlooked for investment in the past and is facing a range of different issues from the decline of industry to high levels of unemployment and crime, or a pressing need for new support services or activities.”
