The Mayor of Eastbourne is preparing to be bowled over with the success of her first fundraising event in office.

Councillor Pat Hearn, who took over the role in May, is hosting the Mayor’s Charity Bowls Tournament at Hampden Park Open Bowls Club on Sunday, July 24, from 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm.

All funds raised will be split between the Mayor’s two chosen charities of the year - Refuge which helps women and children affected by domestic violence, and The Eastbourne Open Award Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, a programme of personal development for young people.

Entry costs £10 per person including a buffet lunch. Call 07831 505404.

Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
