CHRISTIANS from churches across the town are being invited to join together for a Day of Prayer.
The event on Thursday, January 20, is being hosted by Eastbourne’s mayor Carolyn Heaps and is at the Assembly Rooms in the Town Hall in Grove Road.
It will take place between 10.30am and 4pm and all Christian church leaders and their congregations are invited to take part.
The Day of Prayer falls within Christian Unity Week and Carolyn, a committed Christian, said, “During what will be a week of Christian unity, I felt compelled to get all the churches in Eastbourne to come together to pray for our great town and its people.
“I would like to start the new year with thanksgiving to God.
“There are many things to pray for, including special town-wide projects, help for the homeless and those vulnerable to any form of abuse, be it domestic, sexual, child or elder.
“We have many churchgoers in Eastbourne who would wish to bless their town in prayer and see God at work where they live.
“I invite all Christian believers to join me in faith for an amazing day of prayer. I have invited many church leaders to lead different time slots during the day so come and get involved in something inspiring and awesome.”
Carolyn, a member of Kings Church in Eastbourne, has written to church leaders asking them to get involved with their worshippers.
