INDIVIDUALLY designed chairs have been donated to Mencap residents by the Royal Connaught Masonic Lodge.

Gary Sivers, Worshipful Master of the Royal Masonic Lodge, and three of his fellow masons, John Laing, Steve Purnell and Richard Wooler visted Mencap’s Greensleeves residential home in Friday Street for the handover.

They presented Peter Plowman with a cheque for £1,600 which will used towards the cost of new lounge furniture for each of the 11 residents. The Royal Connaught Lodge raised the sum of £1,000 and £600 was donated by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Sussex.

Eastbourne Mencap is purchasing individually made chairs to meet the requirements of each of the residents of Greensleeves from Thorndale Furnishers in Hailsham.

Greensleeves is a residential home for those nearing retirement or of retirement age that have learning and physical disabilities. It was opened by Lord Brian Rix in 1993.
