Man stabbed in Eastbourne town centre

A 22-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in Eastbourne town centre at the weekend.

The drama unfolded in Ashford Road at around 5.45pm on Sunday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the Sussex Air Ambulance was also called out but the man was taken to hospital by road.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and kept in.

A spokesperson at Sussex Police said, “The wound was not thought to be life threatening and his condition is stable.”

Police are now investigating and appealing for witnesses.

Extensive door to door enquiries were carried out on Sunday evening.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and are currently helping police with their enquiries.
