A 38-year-old man from Eastbourne has been arrested after a man was abducted from an address in Earl Street, Hastings, taken to a remote field in Salehurst and had his thumbs chopped off.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and assault and questioned by police before being released on bail until September 6.

The incident happened on May 29.
