A 23-year-old London drug dealer has been jailed after being arrested while dealing in Eastbourne.
Kaliel Scott was sentenced to five years at Lewes Crown Court on Friday (June 5) after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
Scott was seen by police officers carrying out what they believed was a drugs deal in Upperton Lane in Eastbourne town centre on March 12.
When he was detained for a search, he lashed out and punched two officers in the face.
He was arrested and subsequently found to have 32 individually wrapped deals of heroin and crack cocaine.
He was sentenced to three-and-a-half years for the offence and also received a further eighteen months’ imprisonment for breaching a suspended prison sentence for drug dealing in Brighton. The two charges of assaults on police officers were withdrawn at court.
PC Dan Cloake said, “Scott’s arrest was part of our ongoing focus on the supply of Class A drugs into the town as part of Operation Goliath. This sentence sends out a clear message that if you choose to sell drugs in Eastbourne, you are looking at a considerable prison sentence, not if, but when you are caught by us.”
If you have any information about drugs in the town or indeed, anywhere else in Sussex, you can call Sussex Police confidentially on 101 or talk to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
