A MAN was left with a severe head injury, broken ribs and ankle after falling on rocks at Holywell on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened shortly after lunch when the man in his 40s tripped and fell on rocks on the beach just west of the Holywell Tea Chalet.
He was discovered by a lady walking her dog who immediately called 999.
Eastbourne Coastguard Rescue Team and other emergency services rushed to the scene of the conscious but severely injured man.
Coastguard David Nott, the duty response officers, said, “I was paged by Dover Coastguard for an immediate response to this incident and myself and station officer Stuart McNab attended and assisted the ambulance service and doctor at the scene as the casualty was stabilized on the beach before being airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London by the Kent Air Ambulance.”
The injured man is believed to be a holidaymaker to the town and was walking from Holywell to Cow Gap.
