Police want to speak with a man following an altercation with a female cyclist near Eastbourne Downs Golf Club.

The woman came off her bike and suffered cuts and bruises as she rode on the grass beside a bridle path between Butts Row and Jevington at around 1pm on Sunday October 4.

She described the man as white, in his early fifties with grey hair and was walking two dogs.

He was wearing a black gillet with a Volvo Ocean Race logo on it, a white shirt and white trousers.

PC Kelly Purdie said: “We would like to speak with the man described by the female cyclist to help ascertain exactly what happened.

“He, and anyone else who saw what happened, can email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 0897 of 04/10.”
