A man has been charged as part of a cold case probe into the death of a Eastbourne mum who vanished in 2003.
Daniel Doherty, 67, of Icknield Way, Luton, has been charged with preventing a lawful burial, obstructing a coroner in the execution of his duty and perverting the course of justice.
The charges relate to the discovery of 50-year-old Natalia Doherty’s remains in a garden in December 2015.
Mum-of-three Natalia, who was living in Mayfield Place at the time of her disappearance, was last seen in Eastbourne in April 2003 as she prepared to visit her estranged husband in Luton.
Officers launched a fresh investigation into her disappearance in January 2014.
Human remains were discovered during a search at a garden of a house in Luton last year.
The investigation into Natalia’s disappearance has been carried out by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit.
Daniel Doherty will appear before Luton Magistrates’ Court on May 26.
