Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault in a car park in Eastbourne on Monday, August 25.

At around 5pm, a car was driving in an antisocial way in the car park at Langney Shopping Centre, which included driving at children on their scooters. The black Vauxhall Astra left but returned about 7pm when the children’s father approached the car.

The passenger got out of the car and hit the 46-year-old victim on the head and back of his neck with a glass bottle before getting back into the car. The car then drove away clipping the victim and knocking him to the floor.

PC Angie Parfitt said, “The driver of the car is described as a white man in his mid 20s wearing a black jacket with a dark T-shirt underneath. The passenger was also a white man, 5’ 7”, skinny and in his late teens with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and dark jeans. The victim suffered a bruised shoulder but was shaken by the incident.

“Anyone who saw what happened or has any information is asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 1259 of 25/8. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
