Green Street Post Office will be given a makeover and enjoy longer hours and Sunday opening.
The new ‘modernised’ post office will open at 1pm on April 2.
We know how important Post Office services are to residents and we are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popularDavid Gold
A Post Office spokesperson said the branch, at 141 Green Street, would be opening an extra 29.5 hours a week and would offer customers a ‘convenient, quick service, modern open-plan retail environment’.
Service will be provided at two Post Office terminals which will sit beside the retail tills instead of at separate screened counters, added the spokesperson.
The branch will shut temporarily for refurbishment on March 25 at 1pm.
Alternative post office branches which are available during that time are at: Old Town Post Office, 50 Ocklynge Road, or Rodmill Post Office, 24 Framfield Way.
When it re-opens, the new opening hours will be: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 7am – 6pm; Wednesday, Friday and Saturday: 7am – 7pm; Sunday: 7am – 1pm.
The extra 29.5 opening hours a week include all-day Sunday and Saturday afternoon. The branch will also open earlier and close much later every day.
Customers will still be able to access a range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.
Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can pay bill, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
David Gold, Post Office area manager said, “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Eastbourne and we are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme.”
