Herald reader Michael Staples captured this dramatic image of a major cliff fall at Splash Point, Seaford.

It occured during the gales which lashed the coastline from Christmas Eve until Christmas Day.

His photograph shows the extent of the fall, with lots of soil still present when he took it on Christmas Day.

Mr Staples, of Grove Road, Seaford, said, “The cliff is one of the rare nesting areas for kittiwakes, soon to return from the open sea. Hopefully the fall will have left some ledges for their nests.”
