The development, on Claremont Road and Station Road, opposite the train station, was approved for planning permission last year and will provide a mix of 26 two, three and four-bedroom houses, and nine apartments.

The planning permission was granted to Crosstone Homes, who have since sold the land to Hyde Housing. Hyde has announced plans to start the building work this month.

Chris Oakley said: “We sold the site on behalf of Crosstone Homes, who secured the planning permission last year. It is really exciting to see that Hyde have committed to build out the development for affordable housing, despite the fact that it was approved for a mix of private market housing and affordable housing.

“I am sure this will be a great boost for the town of Seaford and will provide much needed high quality housing in a very central location, which makes the site very sustainable.

“Hyde have been extremely active in the local area and this sees them extending their development programme eastwards along the coast.”

The site extended to 0.65 acres and had previous planning permissions for residential developments, which had not been delivered. Crossstone Homes sold the land for £1.5 million.

There is also a section 106 agreement which obligates the developers to pay £280,000 as a local recreation, education and highways improvement contribution.
