Wealden's Film Friendly Location event is popular

More than 100 people from across East Sussex attended a Film Friendly Locations event, at Folkington Manor in Polegate, to find out how they could benefit by renting their land or property for use by the television and film production industry.

The positive response to the event, organised by East Sussex County Council with Wealden District Council, Lewes, Rother and Hastings Councils and Creative England, highlights the growing popularity of East Sussex as a film location.

Recent films and television dramas Mr Holmes, Cuffs, Luther, Mapp & Lucia, Granchester and Life in Squares have all filmed scenes in and around the East Sussex.

Councillor Roy Galley, cabinet member for economic development, said, “It’s wonderful to see the film and television business waking up to the outstanding landscape and heritage on display across Wealden and East Sussex.

“It’s also great to see the enthusiastic take-up from entrepreneurial local residents and businesses and I encourage others who might be interested to register with Creative England too.”

Rebecca Snook, of creative England, said, “We are delighted that so many people came along to the sessions and the turnout was excellent.

“A cross section of business location owners and residents who were keen to find out more came along to see how their properties could be used as film locations.”
