As the debate over improving the troubled stretch of the A27 between Polegate and Lewes rumbles on, the town’s politicians have spoken of what they want to see happen.

Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd and prospective parliamentary candidate for Eastbourne Conservatives Caroline Ansell are both backing much needed improvements for the busy road.

Reasons for improvement include safety, reducing journey times and unlocking potential for local businesses.

Conservative MP hopeful Caroline Ansell said, “It’s all about showing that investment here, in the A27, represents good value for money.”

Lib Dem MP Stephen Lloyd said, “The most important thing with the A27 is we need to upgrade and improve the road.

“Ideally I’d like it to be a dual carriageway but at the least it has to be improved.”
