Work to repair the front of Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre is set to cost £1.9 million - double the original cost.

The popular venue has been shrouded in scaffold and screen for the last four years and members of Eastbourne Borough Council will this week vote on whether to approve the extra spend on restoring the theatre to its former glory.

The whole front of the Grade II listed building is to be replaced as it has rotted over the years.

Annemarie Field went along to meet those driving the project forward and to find out why the cost has doubled.
