The Bespoke cycle campaign group, Eastbourne Can, the Enterprise Centre and the Town Team are just some of the groups which would like the town centre pedestrianised.

This comes at a time when plans for a refurbished Arndale Centre are set to go ahead.

Eastbourne Can member Will Callaghan said, “We’ve got the potential to do something that’s really special for Eastbourne.”

An artist’s impression has been drawn up to show what a pedestrianised town centre could look like.

Mark McFadden, the president of Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce, said, “It is vitally important that town centres are attractive for shoppers to come to and be a place where they want to be, feel safe to be and would recommend friends and family to come to.”
