Hundreds of people lined the seafront at the weekend to enjoy the annual Lammas Festival.

Adults and children enjoyed the entertainment on offer, which included Morris dancers, Stix Drummers and Sea Gypsies belly dancers. There were a number of stalls along the seafront selling traditional items, such as Graham Matthews’ ceramic work and Jon Warwicker with his woodwork.

Lisa Jones was just one of the Eastbourne residents to get painted by The Henna and Hat Lady while many others witnessed the John Barleycorn Ritual.

The festival was blessed with mostly good weather across the two days, especially for the carnival that paraded from the Pier to the Western Lawns on Saturday lunchtime. The parade included Eastbourne Giants Herne and Andred and was accompanied by live music and dancing.

The Lammas Festival is a free event that has taken place in Eastbourne every year since 2001 and raises money for the Eastbourne Lifeboats. Before this year’s donations had been added, the festival has raised more thasn £12,000 for the RNLI.
