Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys this afternoon (Friday) on the A27 in East Sussex as lane closures remain in place near Polegate.

The closure is in place for safety reasons after a fault was discovered in the carriageway following work to install utility connections.

Highways England is working hard to get the carriageway fully opened as quickly as possible, but it is likely that the lane will remain closed until Sunday morning.

Currently, lane two is closed on the eastbound and approach to Jubilee roundabout along with an inside lane of the roundabout junction itself.

Lane two of the Jubilee roundabout onto the A22 is also closed along with a lane closure on the A22 heading towards Dittons roundabout.

Highways England is advising drivers to check the latest conditions before setting out and to allow extra time for their journeys if they are affected by this incident.

Highways England provides live traffic information via its website www.trafficengland.com, local and national radio travel bulletins, electronic road signs and mobile apps. Information is also available from Twitter as well as services in other regions.

Providing they can do so safely, road users can also call the Highways England customer contact centre on 0300 123 5000 to keep up to date with traffic conditions.
