A teenage sailor from Eastbourne has been crowned RYA U19 Youth National Champion after five days of racing on the Olympic waters of Weymouth and Portland.
Olivier Greber, a member of Pevensey Bay Sailing Club, picked up the U19 title in the multihull catamaran Spitfire class for a second consecutive year with his sailing partner Jess Eales.
The 2014 regatta attracted a record entry 392 sailors from around the country, including international competitors from as far afield as New Zealand.
Olivier, who won the same title with former sailing partner James Henson in 2013, dominated the U19 fleet scoring five race wins from the 12 races completed.
The Spitfire duo, who have only been sailing together for five months, finished one point of the Under 21 title to finish the regatta in second place overall.
Olivier was also announced as one of the 12 sailors who will represent Great Britain at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships 2014.
He said, “It is definitely a big goal for me to improve on the bronze medal which I won at the 2013 event in Cyprus with James.
“ It is going to be a tough year, especially as Jess and I are a new partnership.
“We have sailed really well to win selection so we are now just looking forward to Portugal.”
