Teacher denies child abduction

An Eastbourne teacher has pleaded not guilty to a charge of abducting a child.

Jeremy Forrest, a 30-year-old teacher from Bishop Bell, appeared via video-link at Lewes Crown Court on Friday (September 25).

Forrest, who lives in Ringmer, entered a not guilty plea to the charge that on 26 September 2012 without lawful authority and without reasonable access he took a child under 16-years-old and removed her from the lawful control of her parent or guardian.

He was arrested in September in Bordeaux. He was with a 15-year-old girl who cannot be named for legal reasons.

A trial will take place at the same court on June 10.
