String of break-ins as thieves target cars in Shinewater

Police are urging car owners to be extra vigilant after cars were targeted by thieves in Shinewater.

Incidents overnight between Sunday August 31 and Monday September 1, saw various items, which were left in cars over night, stolen.

Fishing gear and a Tom-Tom sat-nav device were taken from a Ford Focus in Shalfleet Close, while keys, clothing and CDs were stolen from a car in Carisbrooke Close.

Other areas are also being targeted after further incidents in Ventnor Close and Orchid Close.

Police have made house-to-house visits to reassure residents that investigations into the thefts are underway.

They are also reminding car owners not to leave valuable items in their cars and to make sure they are locked, even if parked off-road.

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who has information about these or other thefts from cars is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 1820 of 31/8.
