School minibus driver hurt in three-car collision

A Bede’s School minibus driver has suffered abdominal injuries after being in a three-vehicle collision on the B2096 between Battle and Netherfield.

The 65-year-old, from Westham, was taken to the Conquest Hospital for treatment – as were the other two drivers, a 64-year-old Skoda taxi driver from Hastings who suffered cuts, concussion and hand injuries, and a 36-year-old BMW driver from Uckfield, who suffered abdominal injuries.

There were no children in the bus at the time.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash, which happened at about 7.15am on Thursday morning (February 14).

In particular, they would like to hear from the drivers of three vans involved in an overtaking manoeuvre shortly before the collision occurred.

PC Phillip Edwards, of the Road Policing Unit, Polegate, said, “Anyone who saw the collision or who noticed any of the vehicles involved or other traffic on this stretch of road prior to the collision is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting serial 0164 of 13/2.”
