Residents have been giving their views about the exciting transformation of the Coventry Court site in Seaside.
The development plans were on display at St Andrew’s Parish Hall and set out Eastbourne Homes’ intention to build 23 new homes on the site which sits between Allfrey Road and Vine Square.
The original building was old and only offered basic bedsit accommodation with shared bathroom facilities.
It fell below today’s expected standards and has therefore been demolished to make way for modern homes which are fit for purpose.
The building work is part of a major five-year housing programme to develop affordable housing in the town.
Housing experts from Eastbourne Borough Council and Eastbourne Homes have teamed up to form the Housing & Economic Development Partnership (HEDP) to oversee the scheme.
Malcolm Ward, HEDP development manager, said, “We were keen to consult with local residents to find out their views on our plans and overall everyone was in favour.”
The new Coventry Court will provide a mixture of one and two-bedroom flats and two and three-bedroom houses which will be affordable rented or shared ownership homes.
