Two homes in Eastbourne were targeted by burglars within hours of each other.

In the early hours of Friday (February 14) intruders broke into homes in Hawkhurst Close and Carisbrooke Close in Langney.

During the burglary in Hawkhurst Close, two Nintendo DS consoles, a Nokia mobile phone, a purse and a wallet containing cash and bank cards were stolen.

A handbag and some tobacco were stolen from the Carisbrooke Close property.

Detective Constable Dave Styles said, “These would appear to be offences carried out by an opportunist thief.

“I would stress to all homeowners that all ground floor doors and windows should be locked and secured when you go to bed. If you have any information at all please contact us.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 208 of 14/2, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
