Eastbourne train cleaner Peter Harding was chuffed to bits after picking up two awards for his dedication.

He was named Winner of Winners at Southern’s Exceptionally Southern Awards at the Museum of London.

The awards are held to recognise those employees who have received an Exceptionally Southern award either for an extraordinary one-off event or for consistently delivering excellent standards, with 100 winners attending the celebration.

Peter, who also won the Delivering Results category, was nominated for his willingness to help at every opportunity and go above and beyond expectations on an almost daily basis.

He volunteers to alter shift patterns to cover sickness and absence, even at other locations; works longer hours and at weekends at short notice; and always delivers to very high standards. Peter’s manager and colleagues have recognised his dedication, excellent attitude and that he never stops looking for ways to improve the services we offer our passengers.

Southern’s managing director, Chris Burchell said, “The judges and I were impressed by Peter’s undoubted commitment and the huge pride he takes in doing what he can, in often difficult and uncomfortable circumstances, to provide the best possible service for our customers. He is ceaseless in his efforts, enthusiasm, and flexibility and is a role model for working tirelessly in the background to deliver results.

Peter added, “I’m over the moon at being nominated, and really didn’t expect to win.

“I’m on top of the world!”
