Pensioner suffers serious injuries after collision in Hailsham

A 77-year-old suffered fractures to his ankle, pelvis and nose when he was knocked down by a car near Hailsha,

He was struck by a green Seat Ibiza as he crossed the A271 Hawkswood Road at Amberstone at 12.30pm on Wednesday (December 11).

He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for threatment.

The driver of the Seat, a 20-year-old man from St Leonards, was not injured.

PC Stuart Ball said, “I’d like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the pedestrian or Seat Ibiza in the moments before it happened.

“If you were in the area and have any information please contact us.”
