Jobseeker’s Allowance - the main unemployment benefit - has seen a drop in claimants.
The rate of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance has fallen by 25,000 in the South East.
The news has been welcomed by Greg Barker, the MP for the Pevensey and Westham area,
Mr Barker said, “It’s great news that the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance is falling in the South East.
“British business is rising to the challenge of creating jobs and we’re determined to ensure that all hardworking people benefit from the recovery.
“There is always more to do, but these figures are encouraging.”
Employment level in the south east is 4.291 million – up 84,000 on the previous quarter. The unemployment level is 274,000 in the region – down 25,000 on the previous quarter.
