Mystery surrounds reason for pub injury

Police are investigating the cause of a 49-year-old man’s head injuries when he fell to the floor of an Eastbourne pub on Friday night, 3 August.

The man was in the Hurst Arms pub in Willingdon Road at 7.30pm when he was seen on the floor. The fall led him to receive a suspected fractured skull.

He was taken to Hurstwood Park hospital, which specialises in head injuries, where he is under observation.

DC Hugh Charles said: “We know that he suffered a head injury when his head hit the floor but we don’t know what caused him to fall. We are appealing for witnesses to come forward and would like to talk to a man called Lee who was leaving the pub at the time and may have seen what happened.”
