Stephen Lloyd MP welcomed news that unemployment figures have continue to drop in Eastbourne.
According to data released this week by the Office of National Statistics the number of unemployment claimants in Eastbourne has reached 3.3%, lower than it has been at any point in at least the last four years. Youth unemployment also continues to fall locally, and has almost halved over the same period.
Mr Lloyd said, “I am absolutely delighted at these figures and having seen how our town has rolled up its sleeves over the last few years, I’m not surprised. We’ve all worked incredibly hard to come through such a challenging recession, and I am proud of what we have achieved. I profoundly believe that this is in no way the peak of Eastbourne’s exciting journey. Eastbourne is a town that is buzzing with energy and optimism.”
