Eastbourne Mencap’s Paul Durrant said, “A big thank you goes to the hard working Meads Magic committee and the Meads street traders for all their efforts to make this event such a huge success. Also our sincere gratitude to everyone who donated to us.”

The charity, which looks after local people with learning difficulties and their families, said that the funds had already made a massive difference.

The money will be used to buy a new sewing machine, new musical equipment, a range of art and craft supplies plus some new computer programs - all for use by the residents at Eastbourne Mencap’s three homes and by users of its day care centre, The Hive, on Pevensey Road.

Meads Magic 2015 was a great success, attracting in excess of 3,000 people on the night.
