Eastbourne - King Edward's Parade, Western Lawns, Jevington Gardens, Compton Street, Wilmington Gardens and Wilmington Square

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap following a report made to police in Eastbourne on Tuesday.

Witnesses told police they had seen a man being dragged into a van by another man against his will in Jevington Gardens at around 2.50pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Yesterday, Sussex Police arrested the Eastbourne man in the town at 12.10pm and a van has also been seized.

Detective Inspector Richard Bates of East Sussex CID said: “We are still working to identify the man reported to have been dragged into the van.

“My priority at this time is to make sure he is safe and well. We would appeal for anyone with information about who the man may be or where he is to contact Sussex Police.”

“We are questioning the man in custody to try to establish the full circumstances of what has happened in this incident.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information about who the man may be is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 858 of 2/10 or 999 if it is an emergency.
