Les Miserables film star Isabelle Allen has been busy auditioning and filming since shooting to fame in the Hollywood blockbuster but when she heads to Portugal later this year it won’t be to show off her acting talents.

The 11-year-old from Eastbourne, known as Izzy, is to become the first global ambassador for the Dance World Cup (DWC).

The youngster, who has enjoyed much success in the acting industry after she played the young Cosette in the film Les Miserable, will be attending the Dance World Cup opening ceremony and will also be presenting prizes during the gala performance.

The event, which was held in Brighton last year, sees thousands of children and young adults from around the world who have qualified for the final show off their dancing skills as they compete against others.

John Grimshaw, chairman of DWC Limited, said of Isabelle’s role, “We believe that Isabelle is the perfect role model for Dance World Cup as like most of our competitors she attends a private dance school, Shining Stars, and secondary school, Moira House Girls School, both in Eastbourne.

“Isabelle was spotted for the part in Les Miserables when performing in a school play ‘The Piper of Hamlyn’, directed by Jeremy James Taylor, founder of the UK National Youth Music Theatre.

“So if you work hard, Izzy is living proof that dreams can come true.

“Izzy will help us spread our message of ‘friendship through the language of dance’ to all the children of the world and I hope many of our competitors get the opportunity to meet her in Portugal.”

Since Les Mis Izzy has enjoyed success in other roles. She flew out to Romania last year for filming after being chosen to play the lead role as a young gypsy orphan in the film Lady of Csejte which features actress Svetlana Kohdchenkova who plays Countess Elizabeth Bathory.

In 2013 she also finished filming for gangster movie Squat in which she features as the daughter of the leading lady played by Sarah Armstrong.

The busy youngster also took to the stage in the summer at Regent’s Park open air theatre in The Sound of Music after being picked from hundreds of people too play the role of Brigitta.

The production has been nominated for an Olivier Award in the Best Musical Revival category.

Izzy also appeared on stage closer to home when she appeared at a charity show in Worthing where she sang Castle on a Cloud from Les Mis and the talented schoolgirl has also been busy with auditions.

This year is also set to be a busy one for Izzy, who has been earmarked for different projects, and who performed at a fundraising event for the National Youth Music Theatre last Friday. The schoolgirl is also waiting to hear back from several auditions.
