Keane keyboardist caught drink driving on A27 at Berwick

Keane keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley has been banned from the road for two years after driving while nearly three times over the drink driving limit near Berwick.

Rice-Oxley, 38, of Milton Street, Polegate, was stopped by police on April 11, while driving a Land Rover Freelander on the A27.

He blew a reading of 101mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – well over the legal limit of 35mcg.

He pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on July 9 and, as well as the ban, was fined £750, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £75 and costs of £85.

The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account on sentencing and he was given 14 days to pay the fines.
