A commercial refurbishment company is among six local businesses to benefit from a share of £26,500 in the latest round of funding from Locate East Sussex, the county’s commercial property and inward investment service.

Sovereign Commercial Installations, which carries out construction and installation projects at business sites, is using its share of the funding to contribute to the purchase of a new van and as a result will be employing a new full-time member of staff.

The business has gone from strength to strength since it opened 19 years ago in Eastbourne town centre and is now located in bigger, purpose-built premises in Westham Business Park, Pevensey.

It specialises in building and revamping company’s premises and has a number of blue chip companies amongst its customers.

Managing director Stuart McAulay said, “This grant allows us to secure a new full-time position as well as improve transport which is important as we have clients across the south of England and Wales.”

Locate East Sussex administers the Small Business Grants Scheme on behalf of East Sussex County Council to support medium, small, micro and start-up business and social enterprises with new capital projects. The Government’s Regional Growth Fund provides funding for the grants, which range between £3,000 and £5,000, and are match-funded by applicants.
