David started in radio as a volunteer at Ealing Hospital radio became a professional in 1981 on Radio 210 in Reading and went on to work in commercial radio including Radio Mercury in Crawley and a long stint on Southern FM in Brighton.

For a while David also worked at BBC Radio 2 on the weekend early breakfast show before returning to commercial radio.

One of his proudest moments in radio was being the only Englishman to do the breakfast show on Edinburgh’s Radio Fourth only to be taken off air after a few weeks later because he didn’t have a Scottish accent!

Station manager Nick Mallinson, who also does the weekday morning show, said, ”It’s been an incredible journey setting up and running the station.

“It continues to grow in popularity and we like to get involved with local community events.

“All of the presenters are volunteers, fitting in their work and family lives with their shows.”

He added, “They come from all backgrounds, some from commercial and BBC radio and can help with training, but most have never been on radio before and are enjoying the experience of being involved and on-air.”
