The Eastbourne Area Epilepsy Group has been able to purchase gaming and craft equipment, thanks to funding from the Upperton Devolved Budget.

The group, which supports young people aged 7-19 with epilepsy, was borrowing the equipment for their monthly meetings before they decided to apply for the Devolved Budget funding to offer a wider choice of activities.

Upperton Ward Councillors Annabelle West, Tom Liddiard and Alun Cooke agreed to donate £450 to the group so they could purchase extra items. The group used the funding to buy sports equipment, board games, a stereo and various different craft items.

In a joint statement the councillors said: “We are delighted to support young people in Upperton and feel that this is a really worthy cause and we hope they enjoy using the equipment.”

Andy Evans, Chair of the Eastbourne Area Epilepsy Group, said: “We’d like to thank the councillors on behalf of the youngsters because they’ll have more choice of activities at the club.”

The Eastbourne Area Epilepsy Group supports young people with epilepsy through a variety of activities such as music, craft and indoor games.

The group meets every second Saturday of the month at Community Wise, Ocklynge Road and new members are always welcome. Please contact Andy Evans on 0775 7240331 or visit www.eaeg.org.uk for more information.
